$300k for a 12yr "all inclusive" lease to travel the world?

Translates to $25k per year but not sure what, if any, the other expenses are...

Edit: not sure what happens if he were to be laid off. I'm sure he has the funds to pull this off though. And is probably confident that he can land a job from cruise lol.

Cruise ships were horrifying petri dishes of norovirus before 2020. Now they are Walking Dead zombie ships full of sickness and quarantine.  Some lines no longer require a vaccine for crying out loud.  12 years?  What is he thinking?

Sounds like this isn't a regular cruise ship, since all the rooms are for sale, not for rent in the typical hotel-style of a cruise ship.  I don't know if that makes it better or worse. 

And yeah, the fact that it's an additional $25k/yr for food is a significant point.

Yes, he's paying an additional $2100 a month (which will rise over time) to cover all food (includes alcohol), daily maid service, utilities/internet, sea transportation, and at least a baseline level of included entertainment. Probably sounds like a lot to you and me, but if he always eats out or gets takeout all the time anyway, it probably seems like a wash to him.

It's marketed as a "luxury" cruise ship that caters to the wealthy. These tend to be much smaller than your typical gargantuan carnival cruise ship. It looks to me that they are also trying to suck in more modest income people with the cruise equivalent of timeshares.

Recreational ports all around Europe . . . there are worse ways to pass the days.

I predict he will tire of it, or he'll meet a life partner during his travels who tires of it. But then perhaps he can bail somehow? Or maybe he'll just become a salty dog?

It sounds like he can rent out his cabin, so it's sort of like a second home that the owner uses, and can also rent for income.  Once/if it gets old, he can just rent it (or perhaps resell if he's 100% done and the finances make more sense).

An extended outage seems unlikely.  If nothing else, he could use his phone as a hotspot whenever they were close enough to land to have coverage.
