my bank has a series of similar ads - the one I saw yesterday said "more freedom for Emily" and showed an ~18 year old grinning as she bought a brand new car with a loan from the bank.

I had a mailer the other day from some sort of lender (it wasn't bank, that's all I remember) stating I could get a loan. Then it listed all the ways I could use that loan. The first few suggestions were the usual...buy a car, buy a boat, take a vacation, holiday spending. But the last suggested item blew my mind. It suggested "prom night", I guess for the dress/shoes/purse/jewelry, limo, flowers, etc.

Take out a loan at 29% for prom night? Really?

OMFG. I thought it was bad enough when banks started advertising wedding loans!

I read the "over 18s only" part and thought, "Well sure, taking out a loan for a duration of 18 seconds or less would just be silly."

I notice that all of the literature for this particular loan are gone...that's unfortunate.
