Worrying that everyone is getting too frugal?
« on: March 05, 2015, 03:13:25 AM »
There are some folks who post here and on other PF blogs, worried that future investment returns will be low because too many people are saving too much money.

Read this, and relax!

And of course keep saving your own money....

It's like non vegans telling me I should worry about cattle dying out because no one needs them any more.
Yea .... let's worry about that when say 90% of the population are vegan.
I've never heard anyone say this, but it's an incredibly stupid argument.
No one "needs" pandas, or plenty of other species, and yet we're still trying to conserve them...

If everyone was frugal and buy things used, then the used retail market would increase and retail that involved buying new would decrease. I would see it as a shift and not a decline.

Retail based on used items is more sustainable. If we continue to buy new and through everything away, the earth will struggle to keep up.
