Here is their testimonial from someone at Slate:

Quote
“I can personally attest to the app’s addictiveness. Almost immediately, it became a part of the near-unconscious ritual of checking that begins every time I unlock my smartphone…to remind you, as you go about your connected existence, that you have a dog, somewhere, and that he’s alive, and that you love him.”

You know, one of the things I like about being me is that I remember this all the time without needing an app. Just damn.

My dogs already give me a reminder of their continued existence by sniffing my nether regions when I get home.

Near as I've been able to figure, my dog goes into some sort of coma-like stasis on the couch the entire time I'm not home.

Not ours. Some couch stasis, some front-porch-in-a-sunbeam stasis, with scattered barking at stuff interludes and one or two episodes of go pee in the woods. Rinse and repeat.

Same here.  Until it's night time...and I'm not home....  then they express their displeasure by channeling the ill-will of my neighbors with a torrent of noise...

Luckily I have a dog that came with these features included.  It even has an automatic alert system...when he hasn't had enough activity he starts biting you!

Or as the wife says:
