Disclaimer: I like apple products and am typing this on a 3 year old macbook.
But for super-obsessed people just waiting for their brand new $600+ iPhone, you can obsessively track it's progress as it flies from China to wherever-the-heck-you-are.

OMG - flight UPS63 might hit turbulence crossing the pacific and may delay its schedule landing by almost 25 minutes.  waahhhhh!!

Can't a person just walk into an Apple store and buy one off of the shelf?

I've been thinking about hitting the phone addiction market on Etsy, it looks like a lucrative market as long as you can think of a phone accessory that is a smidge different from what is already out there.

I'm on another forum where people track their $110,000 Corvette being built. It's just consumerism....

That would make a little sense to me. I wouldn't understand spending that much money on a car (plus if I did, I more likely would buy a Tesla, but that's just me) but I can understand if someone saved up and has always wanted a Corvette and so now that they have the means to afford doing it, why not let them have a little excitement. If they have been saving for a long time, I can imagine that every update is part of their enjoyment. Kinda like being a little kid and waiting for Christmas! Grr, my dad is usually an early riser, but I swear on Christmas day he would sleep in until noon just to make us wait to open our gifts...good times!

I remember a couple of years ago, I had to call UPS to find a lost shipment at the office... and when I got through to their phone menu it was something like "If you are calling to track your iPhone shipment, press 1. For all other calls, press 2."

I think there must be something 'special' about people who buy new iPhones the second they go on sale...

If I spend $100K on a car then I want to walk down the assembly line holding on to the fender or something. :)
