Sadly, this is not a joke, but a business that has just opened in Detroit.  I shudder to think of the repo on this loan..

I wonder how often people ask for an extension?

Not to trim the pun chain too short, but my favorite card in Munchkin Legends is the "Hell Toupee" - only a +2, but I like it.

They'll take a haircut if they have too many bad loans.

These are unbeweaveable. We've got quite a crew on this money shaving site.

Mock away, but some weaves cost in the multiples thousands of dollars. As a white person who hardly considers her hair at all, I found the documentary Good Hair very enlightening and recommend it. What many African American woman go through to get "good hair" according to a cultural standard I've never had to consider is really amazing.

I was enjoying the puns (because I love puns--and frugal's were epic) but not intending to be mocking as to the topic. I too found Good Hair to be a great documentary. I also had no idea about that side of the culture at all. It was very enlightening, and I recommend it highly.

The puns were fantastic, thank you all for that.

This business model, to me, represents another step lower than a car title loan, or rent-a rim, or any other business that offers loans for consumable goods.  As a business model, its likely genius...as a human being, it makes me sad to see women of color driven to the depths of financial mismanagment, for something that will likely need to be done again in 6 weeks.

To draw an appropriate parallel across the races, it would be like a caucausian woman taking out a loan to go get highlights.  Ill-advised no matter what your race or culture.

I cringed everytime they said "Now You Can Afford To Be Beautiful" in the ad. It makes me upset that we tell people (most frequently women in our society) that they have to spend money on this or that product in order to be attractive. And especially since the business model here is encouraging women to spend money they don't even have.

I suppose the analog for the lighter-skinned would be tanning salon lending???

Just think of the fees you could bake into those loans. . . .

Wow....

One thing I've considered that I don't think the consumers have.... doesn't this make EVERYONE using that product look worse?

I never considered it with weave, but I have considered it with the rent a rims*.  The whole point of these products is to make it look like you have money(something no one on this site cares about).  Anytime I see crazy rims on a car now I just assume they are rented.  Isn't it self defeating?

I would have to comb over the loan application carefully before signing!
