Walking home from the bus stop this morning...
« on: March 05, 2013, 02:20:28 PM »
I saw a very cute little family getting into some kind of vehicle (SUV?) They looked like they were getting dropped off at school(s).  We are within walking distance of three schools (less than a km for the farthest one) and two- three blocks from the bus hub.

That vehicle still had frost on it so I knew it hadn't been driven so far that day.  The oldest kid (about 12 years old...) had an extra large Tim Horton's coffee.  I guarantee that Timmy's is further away than any of those and it was either leftover from yesterday (yuck) or someone brought that home already this morning in a second vehicle.

Either way...  that is a lot of (take out!) coffee first thing in the morning- especially for a kid that age!

Sounds like that kid works hard and plays hard.  He deserves a daily treat.

I'm sure there's no bigger treat a parent can give a teacher than a tween hopped up on caffeine.

They also sell tea, but it's more fun to be judgmental!

Maybe they're thinking 'green' and reusing the Tim Horton's cup...

Meh, tea also has plenty of caffeine and is way cheaper to make at home. Guess it could be a non-caffenated version but that's barely better for an excuse.

All of those non-judgy things could be true (aren't you guys nice...)  He might have had a drink from home and was just showing off his status symbol paper cup.  I don't know, though...  he looked like he was on the bean to me!  ;-)

He was probably reusing the cup for his cancer medication.  Don't you all feel bad now??

When I worked in retail, there was a Starbucks nearby.  I was shocked to see how many parents would come in, and their pre-teens would have these massive mocha-frappa-latte-whatevers - a huge caffeinated calorie fest of sugar and whipped cream.  They were always chubby kids, so I guess the extra caffeine never translated into extra activity.
