Walden Pond a tourist trap?
« on: September 28, 2016, 04:31:53 PM »
Who would have thunk it?

Glenn over at 'tosimplify' paid a visit and said it was $10 to park to see the pond.   Or a twenty minute parking limit at the information centre that was crammed full of kitschy crap for sale (where of course every totchke was emblazoned with the word simplify.)

Bizarre.

Someone should take photos of the gift shop and sell them as postmodernist art. Then the cycle will be complete.

It's a state park. The state parks have fees to pay for the upkeep. It's not $10 to "look at a pond" it's $10 to PARK to spend a day picnicing and swimming  and hiking at a state park. If you bike in it's free (I think).

If you bike in it's free. If you have a fishing license you can park at the boat launch for free.
