Non-mustachian fiction

There is a discussion going on in General topics about how mustachian Jack Reacher is.  I couldn't help but think of my guilty reading pleasure, which is the Stone Barrington series by Stuart Woods.  Wow, the money that is thrown around in that series.  Just, wow.  But when I reflect, I think that I would not enjoy most of the aspects of that lifestyle (travel by private jet I could get used to very quickly, I am sure).  Anyone else have a guilty non-mustachian read?  Anyone else here with me re Stone Barrington?

And on a side note, I think I now live in Narnia under the rule of the White Witch, where it is always winter.

Not a book, but I'm always struck by the non-Mustachianism of the tv show Modern Family.  it's like an advertisement for pointless middle-class consumption.

Moving into real life, it amazes me the young couples who expect to have houses like their parent's houses - fancy kitchens and all.  Who has granite counter-tops at 25 or 30?  They do.  I don't.

I admit I read 50 Shades of Grey. Audis and private helicopters are all over it. I hear the real porn in the movie isn't the sex--it's the conspicuous consumption.

Shop-a-holic series!! Oh lordy, that book and the subsequent ones will make you cry!  She is so deeply in debt, she doesn't know what she owes and so goes out and buys more to feel better.  And the worst part? She's a financial adviser writing for a magazine!!  But don't worry, she meets a rich guy and is saved from living on the streets...

yuck, throw-up, blah - and it was made into a movie that people adore... :-(

To be fair, just to fit a camera inside, you need an apartment that'd cost millions in NYC.
