Title: Surprisingly frugal habits of the super rich... and then there's Elle Macpherson

Nothing groundbreaking here from Australia's richest - don't buy bottled water, shop around for the best deals on utilities, review every bill.

And then there's Elle Macpherson.

"In today's world, it can be so easy to live a highly-disposable lifestyle. I try to remember to recycle in all areas of my life as much as I can. If I purchase a new handbag for example, I make sure to donate or gift an old handbag. So it's one item in and one item out — it works for me."

Frugal: I do not think that word means what she thinks it means...

Good grief.

One time when I was not an MMMer, I looked up Frugal advice online.

One tip that stuck with us is, "Instead of buying 100 pounds of steak for your frequent neighborhood backyard BBQs, buy 100 pounds of ground beef. This will save you $5000+"

I may have gotten the numbers wrong on that tip. Point is, we already bought neither. Most of the comments below were like, "Dude, no one who is looking at this article is buying steak."

Ever since, weve started claiming that we'd "saved $5000" not buying steak or some other amount of money for an object that we also weren't buying. Very long recurring joke at this point.

Saw that one. Totes ridiculous!

Puns aren't really my bag, baby. It's time to give this thread the sack and toss it over the shoulder. I'm clutching at straws here, have I missed any?

Macpherson? I don't know who she is and I'm not trying to mock her last name but her last name sounds like something you make up on the spot when trying to think of a fake name.

"What's my name? It's uh.... Tim Mac....per...son? Yes Tim Macpherson!"

Does it make it better or worse if I tell you her nickname is The Body?

We're great at names in Australia. We have a city named Townsville.

I like Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters. The guy has a net worth of $30 million, yet he drives a 2005 Subaru Baja and a 1986 Toyota pickup that he's owned since high school. Why? Because his vehicles work just fine and he doesn't need to prove anything to anybody.

So are Elle's handbags known as "body bags?"

I met her in London when I was a nanny. She was picking her son up from martial arts and we were standing opposite looking at each other. I was about to ask her if she went to school with me and then realised her face was familiar because she's elle macpherson lol.

I have to admit, I thought this thread was a joke at first because I read "Elle MacPherson" and thought "Oh, isn't that the main character from the pink lawyer movie, the one who is an airhead and really likes purses?"  I was so very wrong.  Elle MacPherson is a real person, apparently, and Elle Woods is the character in "Legally Blonde."  Oops.

Lol.... I wonder if the ABC put it in the middle for a bit of comedy
