Sporting KC player fails at personal finance

I follow Major League Soccer and I saw this story about a young professional soccer player that plays for Sporting Kansas City. I'm shaking my head because as a soccer player he might have 10-15 years of a professional career, maybe even less if he continues to drink excessively.

If memory serves, the English national soccer team has historically been full of prodigious drinkers...

He's actually half decent as a player. I expect he'll make around $300k-$400k within the next to year if he continues to score like this year and last.

Hope he gets his act together financially though and hope that he eventually plays for my favorite team DC united.

If you click on the links for other players, Andrew Bogut from the NBA says he invests 75% of his salary. He used to have an investment advisor when he was younger but learned how to do it himself. Nice to see.

I wonder if Golden State has a finance class or something similar for players?  Granted not as many details, but I saw an article about Draymond Green being smarter than your average 23 year old pro athlete with money as well a while back.

I saw that. Kudos to him for saving 75%, though that should not be difficult when you make $14 million a year. I was pretty amazed though that he and his girlfriend could spend so much at Chipotle and Tasty Greens or whatever it was. Two chicken salads, two iced teas, and one dessert for $44 bucks? At least he can afford it.
