Make your sandwich instead of buying it.
Mind = blown

Do I have to click the link, or can I just sit quietly beside you for a little while before I have to go home to make lunch?

Really.... Really...
Please tell me there is something which says this is a satire on something!!!

Hahahaaa and he recorded a whole video diary of the experience. This is magical.

FAKE NEWS

No, not fake news, but satire. Or as my late mother would say, 'dripping with sarcasm.'

I honestly couldn't tell if it was meant to be humor or not. (Whether real or satire; I still think it fits this board.)
The author's twitter would seem to indicate "not"; but he might be extending the joke.

In fairness, the supposed new thing was not making your lunch per se - it was bringing in ingredients and making it at work. I didn't watch the video (because, well, I didn't feel like it), but I could see how this could make for fresher sandwiches...

The video is actually kind of funny in how it is presented.
I'm not sure how putting your ham and cheese on bread at work changes anything. I didn't see he was using any ingredients that made the bread soggy. His revolutionary step seemed to be to buy fresh bread each day at lunchtime.
We make our bread, so we typically have fresh bread every other day or so, maybe I'm spoiled in that regard.
