New web company
« on: June 24, 2014, 01:17:51 PM »
I've seen a lot of crazy ideas for web companies but this is so crazy, I bet it will actually fly.  Imagine, paying $15 for $10 worth of quarters?!

Maybe this should be in "Antimustachian Wall of Shame and Comedy"?

I did some searching around and, from what I can tell, it is not a joke.  Hard to believe but I bet some suckers will pay for the 'service'.

But there's postage involved - and they even say it will be $15 to Australia!

You know, this is crazy from our standpoint, but I truly commend the creators on coming up with this. I can't imagine that it will be a huge cash cow, but the business itself seems trivial to setup and run for a nice, simple profit :p

How else would you even get quarters now-a-days?  It's not like you get change when you swipe your CC for a $5.35 starbucks or a $4.50 cupcake.

This is a brilliant idea. There are enough people dumb enough who will subscribe to this service.

I see no evidence they have a single customer.  I'd guess its a project for a web business class

Quarter machines are easy to come by at any location that does lots of business in quarters. Self service car washes, laundromats, arcades, etc... Or, just go to the bank.

Interesting that the website now says it is shut down...

Shut down already. That didn't last long. Glad to see consumers have a shred of common sense left...

Many supermarket customer service counters will happily change a $20 bill for two rolls of quarters. Your bank will also let you withdraw cash from your account in the form of rolled coins.

I visited the site and they say they have decided to shut it down. But they don't say why?

I'm guessing out of sheer embarrassment.

This makes me think it's still some kind of experiment/joke.  They say "we did have customers that were excited for it" and yet shut it down?  Who would turn down free money?
