How much? I would mostly want it for it's Blu Ray player and internet connectivity.

It would make more sense to buy a ps3 then - has both those things for much less, although if you're serious, you're welcome to PM me!

In college I worked for a moving company. We mostly moved able bodied college students from one apartment to another. I've never paid anyone to move my stuff, and have helped many friends since load moving trucks.

I recently moved to Hawaii. The majority of the Hawaii budget is funded by hotel tax, which is paid by tourists. Yes, buying a home is expensive, but property taxes are dirt cheap because the hotel tax pays for a lot of stuff. Buying an expensive home isn't that big of a deal as long as you can sell it for the same price or more when you move on.

Fair enough, but I was offered someone's old Blu Ray (they upgraded) and since I have a Roku, it doesn't need to be wifi enabled. Thanks though! But I'll let you know if I find anyone looking for a PS4.

I translate product descriptions of fancy French couture items into English, for people who are trying to resell them online.  It has given me quite a perspective on how some rich people with more money than sense think about consumer items.  :P  They might be selling a $500 pair of jeans that they never wore, and to explain why they never wore them, they will say things like, "Well, it was the wrong size, but I really wanted it!  Teehee!  But in the end I never wore it because it's the wrong size."

But on the bright side, I get paid well, and I can do it from anywhere.  I'll probably retire early thanks to crazy French rich people.  XD

Back in the day (late nineties) I worked at a credit reporting service, compiling reports for mortgage companies.  It was eye-opening to say the least.  Since a lot of companies were in California I got to see some actors and musicians' reports.  Here were people making millions of dollars but just as fast as the money came in it went out and a lot of them were in pretty serious debt.  One was an actor who was getting paid roughly $20 million a movie and he was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy ... and mad at my company because its report wouldn't let him get a mortgage on a house in Hawaii.

I buy and re-sell designer handbags. Sold like $800 worth of stuff in the last 2 weeks that I purchased for $300. I just do it on the side, but some of the people who ask to do a payment plan or have to save up for 2 weeks until they get their paycheck for a $100 item amaze me. But it works.

People seem to think that gubermint is coming after confederate flags, so I've had lots of customers begging for them. So I found a supplier and having them drop-shipped straight to my customers for a good return (prepaid). Everyone is happy.

I'd be embarassed if I was you.  What other symbols of hatred and bigotry are you profiting from?  I'm disgusted.

That's a valid argument.

This isn't a job, but my travel rewards credit cards are funded by 23.99% interest rates.

Well, I'm sure you'll take better care of those dollars than haters or bigots. You're richer, they're poorer. Everyone wins.

"Everyone wins" ????  Except the targets and victims of bigotry.  Try being black in the South and saying that.  The confederate flag is a symbol of hatred and violence (it is a favored symbol of the KKK), just as surely as symbols of the Third Reich would be.  Would you be proud of selling symbols of Germany's WW2 evils to achieve an easier life?  I sincerely doubt it, but somehow this is acceptable and even celebrated?  It's not like racism is over and done with, it's an active beast and it destroys lives hourly.

Part of the benefit of pursuing FIRE is it makes it very easy to act morality.  With money in the bank, the (usually false) choice between making rent and acting ethically is no longer an issue.  Instead, this is someone who is getting FIRE at the expense of others.  There should be no equivocation on this.

symbols have only the power you give to them.  Every time I see a confederate flag I think of the old TV show "Dukes of Hazard."
If people want to buy them, I'd have no problem selling them.

So the thought occurred to me this morning that some of us have jobs that only exist because Antimustachians like to spend money so much. So in that vein, what jobs have you had where you, for lack of a better phrase "took advantage" of antimustachian tendencies?

I work in the floral industry and our customers shop for weddings and other events like parties or funerals. We push the "buy more to save more" pricing which usually ends up with the customer purchasing more than they came in to purchase. Or they'll end up buy things "just in case" which are usually the customers that don't know what they're doing. None of this stuff is really necessary since flowers are a luxury item, but we're still around since this industry is based off emotions and culture. It's always crazy to see what antimustachian males are willing to spend to impress their (usually new) girlfriends for Valentine's Day. It's ridiculous!

I buy exotic and vintage cars from people who stretched to get into them at 65-70% retail because I pay cash and immediately. Sell then on for about 90% retail once I do a bit of reconditioning and make a good bit of money on the side doing it. Sell a little slow and occasionally I have 100K+ USD of inventory but that is life.

Plus I get to have toys and they make me money in the long run. 20-35K a year if I keep myself under the private sale limits.

Yeah, I used to date a women and for Valentine's Day I gave her a beautiful plant instead of flowers, which she loved because it actually has a use. She told her parents, and her dad loved the idea, "He's PRACTICAL!" Shame it didn't work out between us, she would likely embrace Mustachianism.

Working for a defense contractor is the ultimate in taking advantage of antimustachian tendencies, there is so much waste that fails to get addressed, yet they claim they're broke for this budget year every time something they need breaks. What little they spend on capital gets allocated to the oddest places that contribute nothing to efficiency or product quality, often on systems that start off broken/dysfunctional and end up patchwork and labor intensive at best. Responsibilities that could be put on one individual get sub-contracted to outside groups to do the same job for less than the salaried person being paid to contract it out. I take advantage of this, making myself as indispensable as possible for longevity.

I had an awesome side-gig for a few months delivering home-made gourmet dog food to wealthy people in the fancy parts of LA, with a Malibu run every two weeks.

I thought of MMM - if I'd combined that with dog-walking I'm sure I would have broken 50k. Unfortunately I like driving more than walking.

I always felt as a tax preparer I was screwing people over. You can do it yourself for free, why the hell are you coming to our franchise to pay someone?? I started out at a place that would take the fee out of the refund (lots of EIC and all that) and it was so bad I had to switch two weeks into the season.

Now I work for lawyers who work for a big corporation on the Digital/Ad Sales side.

Also did residuals for directors. That was interesting. We'd have a guy call up every two weeks and then physically come in for his $20.00 checks. Of course, other checks were so large they were hand-signed by presidents of studios. :)
