lols it doesn't even give a coffee discount for trapping $400. It looks like you pay $50 for that honor!

It does come with "gold member" status.  Generally you have to buy 30 drinks in 12 months with a registered Starbucks card to get that.

Lets say you always get $5 coffee.  Usually, you would have to get 42 drinks ($210) to get a free one (42 drinks + 1 free drink = $4.88 a drink).  With this, you start earning right away!  So 12 ($60) then free (-$5).  By the time you get to 42 drinks, you would have gotten three free drinks!  And each drink would be so affordable; 40 drinks + 3 free drinks = only $4.65 each.

And after spending so much on a steel card and over priced coffee, you'll certainly need all those savings...

I will admit I stopped reading once i got to the $50 for the steel card part ;)

A whole $0.23 a drink savings? hmmm i wouldn't be surprised if that is around what it costs me to make an espresso at home. (no steel card included)

It's going to be disturbing to see how quickly they sell out.  I might be tempted to punch anyone who brags that they have one.

It is hard for me to get surprised that someone would plop $400 into a Starbucks gift card. There are plenty of people out there that are drinking this stuff everyday. Why anyone would pay $50 for a steel vs. plastic gift card is beyond me...I would imagine most of the people that go to Starbucks use the mobile app anyway, but I may be wrong.

...and now they are selling for a kilobuck on ebay.

You need this card for the $7 Costa Rica coffee so you can really be ostentatious.

Investment-wise, that's a hell of a return.

With a hell of a risk.  It's like those $10000 twinkies on ebay.
