Mocking working less and spending time with family
« on: May 09, 2018, 01:16:59 PM »
Is this guy for real?

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-did-americans-get-so-lazy-2018-05-09

A couple choice quotes:

Quote
As workers, we have become more and more productive, but instead of using that productivity to produce more wealth, we have used it to produce more leisure.

Quote
I think what I miss most about the old America is the crass materialism — houses, cars, boats, planes, jewelry and clothes — that people aspired to.

Now, people want “time with family.”

Please tell me this is satire.

This better be a joke, otherwise his point is all over the place.  Something about "we should be like Bezos, but not like Trump. We should work longer hours, and maybe invest?'  Apparently we're supposed to idolize the President who was in charge in the months just prior to the 1929 crash?

Jared Dillian is a former Lehman Brothers head of ETF trading

And how did that job work out for you Mr. Dillian?

It looks like satire to me. I searched the author and it looks like he is living on the beach and writes books/articles and investment newsletters. So he is pretty much FIRE.
