Just about managing on £70,000 a year - UK Daily Mail
« on: January 06, 2017, 05:30:04 AM »
Some interesting statistics from people in the UK who are earning £70,000 a year and struggling to keep afloat. Surprisingly the comments section seems to be more sensible than I would have anticipated.

For non UK readers, the average wage is around £25,000.

Keeping Up Appearances is expensive. Just ask Hyacinth Bucket aka Mrs Bouquet.

I'm on less than average wage, paying rent in the second most expensive city in the country, and I'm saving £10,000 a year (and having fun whilst doing it). Just saying!

Yep, if you commit to spending every penny that you earn and have an average number of 'unforeseen' expenses such as a car breakdown and Christmas you too can 'just about manage'.

My team earn about that amount and when we get no bonuses you would think that the sky had fallen in. They are all JAMs. They're also (IMO) idiots.

I have heard it around my work lately, they struggle to make ends meet on $80k (US) but they have no issue dropping a couple grand on the kids for Christmas...
