Title: Jobs Wanted To Help Beat Nest Egg Blues

Some of these stats are quite nuts I reckon...

"Nearly 50 per cent of National Seniors members have, or intend to, delay their retirement for financial reasons, the research found."

"The greatest concern of the over-50s is shrinking finances - 70 per cent of women and 61 per cent of men worry their savings will not keep pace with inflation"

And finally this proposal is one which I think everyone will be seeing more of soon as all the boomers come to realise that oh... no they DON'T have enough for their retirement

"...if Australia changes practices and rules to allow those willing to do so to work through their 60s and beyond."

I think the biggest worry is that virtually no one in the comments picks up on these points... instead they all start talking about age discrimination! Like yes... there is this happening... but I'd be more worried about why 60+ year old people can't retire after working all their lives!

It's not that they can't, it's that they've chosen things that they want more like flat-top ranges and new Fords.

Yup. Cause and effect. It's not enough to just work all your life - you also ought to put some of it away! I read somewhere that a typical Baby Boomer here in the States has only $10,000 or so in savings. O_o
