Title: Invest by the phase of the moon
Post by: ChpBstrd on March 14, 2019, 04:08:55 PM
There is allegedly a 5% annualized difference in returns between a new moon and a full moon. Now that they've figured out the secret to market timing, I'm just going to leave this here and retire on a 9% WR. Maybe play some weekly options too.

If the market truly obeys lunar influences, that says a lot about the way inexplicable manias and sudden crashes are driven by lunacy.
Haha

Obviously they intended to post this article on 4/1/19 and someone pushed the wrong button.

Loony investors should stick to trading moon dust and interstellar particles.

April's Fool joke a wee bit early, eh?

It's true. This topic is exactly 0.034 levels of rationality above that.

Astrology woo.  Supposedly when Mercury is retrograde it's not a good idea to sign contracts or make major purchases.

When Mercury or Jupiter are in retrograde it means they appear to move “backwards” in the sky.  It’s a real astronomy term!  Of course, if you are using the stars and planets to make predictions about your individual life that’s astrology.

The stars are in fixed* constellations in the sky but the planets “wander” through the sky through the band called the ecliptic.  The planets advance forward through the band in the sky (the constellations that are in the ecliptic are called the zodiac).  As the earth passes other planets, the other planet appears to go into “retrograde” and move backwards through the zodiac.

(*constellations are slowly changing because the universe is expanding, but not in a very noticeable way)
