Parking Supply & Demand Pricing
« on: April 07, 2015, 08:45:49 AM »
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/2015/04/06/parking-boston-too-cheap-this-man-thinks/EXxFKJPPdPjz2CQgsj3mLK/story.html?p1=feature_pri_hp#comments

I read the article - not bad (suggesting Boston move to flexible demand pricing for parking, with benefits of decreasing traffic congestion as it limits the circling for parking).  Then I foolishly clicked into the comments.

PSA: You do not NEED to drive a car.  It does not say "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, which includes a swanky car with the right to park it for free."

There was a Freakanomics podcast about this, in a different city (somewhere out west I think?).  Anyway, I'm all for it.  Jack up parking enough and there are plenty of spots because magically public transport and/or carpooling become worth it.
