The author is correct about the ratios and impact fuel usage, but I didn't see any mention of the savings from driving a Prius instead of a pick up.

Their math might be technically correct, but is more of a statement on how much gasoline was getting burned by previous generations of pickups and not any kind of guidance on what kind of vehicle a consumer should buy.
