Title: Great deal on a watch! Yay!
Post by: 1WattLightbulb on December 04, 2014, 09:59:39 PM
I don't threadcrap on Slickdeals, so maybe y'all can laugh with me at this.

http://slickdeals.net/f/7472996-baume-et-mercier-classima-automatic-chronograph-watch-1255-amp-more-free-shipping

Watches in the $1200 range...

Some noteworthy comments from the thread:

"an appreciation for the marriage of craftsmanship and design"

"In for a couple as stocking stuffers."

"when I lay them down at my desk, I'd like to see the movement"

"anything under $10K (unless vintage) is meh."

"you cannot buy a respectable watch for under $7K"

"If you even mention Hublot, Panerai, or Bell & Ross, I'll know you're tasteless. If you mention a AP Royal Oak Offshore, an IWC Portuguese, Rolex Submariner, or a Patek Phillipe Nautilus, I'll think you're mindless. So what's it gonna be, high roller?"

[Yes, someone actually made that comment.]

Someone was also nice enough to provide this link: http://www.jomashop.com/audemars-piguet-watch-26174bczz8042bc01.html?utm_medium=cpa&utm_campaign=4485850&utm_source=CJ

Ain't that some gaudy fucking shit. The second one. The first isn't my style but at least doesn't look like a piece of shiny shit.

Favorite part:

Apply coupon code JOMAWC20 for extra $20 off.

I always look for the $20 off a $1200 watch.

$20 is $20. I'd have no problem finding a coupon and printing it out if I could save $2 at Hungry Jack's (Burger King). If I'm spending the $1,200 anyways, and can save $20 by a quick google and Ctrl-C Ctrl-V, why the heck not?

I would too, certainly. It's more the idea of making a coupon for it. Coupons/discounts are usually there to attract attention to the product, make someone feel like they're getting a deal, you know?

Some of those comments you quoted are obviously joking, and some might be trolls like the $7k guy.  I'm not sure I'd be freaking out about this...
