Getting By on $1,000,000 a Year
« on: April 15, 2012, 08:02:45 PM »
This article is a couple of years old at this point, but it's truly amazing. The author talks about a conversation he had with a high-level New York investment banker who earned a $1,000,000 bonus one year and was depressed about how quickly the money was going to disappear. If I earned a bonus like that, I'd instantly be set for life!

aww, poor guy!

hey, I've got an idea. Let's get all the taxpayers to chip in $40,000 and give it to bank executives so they can give each other bigger bonuses (while we experiment with new rice and bean recipes to save money).

oh, wait, we already did that didn't we?

never mind

Wow, its almost sad how people get stuck believing they need such crap.

My in laws have come into 100k twice in the last 5 years and immediately just blew it. All I can thinking is if I got my hands 200K it would probably cut my time to FI by about 5 years.

At this comment, I clicked over and saw an ebook about alternatives to college. It looked interesting and was 99 cents, so I bought it. Thanks.

I almost bought that book also, but my oldest is only 13 so I think I'll wait a couple years before thinking too much about it.  I am interested in that train of thought, I think someone like MMM would have been able to make it work with or without college, but there are others that benefit from that process moving them along toward a goal, especially in that early age.

Luckily for me, this guys problems are like quantum mechanics. I kinda understand the concept of his problems but I just go with back home and realize I'm in a different reality.  His problems might be real for him.  But my happiness with an order of magnitude less money is real for me.
