I'm only just sprouting my cycling roots and I'm all ready noticing things locally which could be done improve cycling efficiency.

If you're noticing them, make sure you get down to your local authorities and start encouraging the changes you see that could be made. If you've noticed them, others probably have too. Your involvement may very well encourage others to join you and any changes made will probably attract more people out on bikes.
