Got my first job out of university in 1996 on $20,000pa when I was 25.  For the first 12 months I think I spent EVERY penny on music, gadgets (mobile phones weren't "invented" ha ha), clothes, food, alcohol, holidays etc. didn't learn to drive until I was 27 so never got any mad car payments but probably would have !

I think my spending was a function of never having much money growing up and having fuck all money during college as well and suddenly bam "I can buy what I want!"

Dumb but fun....
