There is no way this guy makes more than $12/hr and this is literally brand new...

Rich parents trying to instill life skills.
In my town, I've seen $40K BMWs delivering subs.

I deliver pizza and make $15/hr. If he's in a busier city than my rural town (pop. 20k), he could very possibly be making $20/hr.

I deliver Chinese food in this area and make $20/hr but I know Jimmy John's drivers don't make as much because the orders cost less.

I see you are in Co.

Maybe he's making extra deliveries with the sandwiches. ;)

The owner of my home town pizza place made a lot of money with a chain of stores - he was a bike nut and had a collection of exotic sports bikes.
He would occasionally do a delivery for fun, on a Ducatti 900s or Hayabusa.
When somebody asked him he explained it was a new "your pizza delivered in 30seconds" service they were trying.

I believe that, in my age group (post-millenials), we would say this guy has a ton of "swag." Which I think is Bro-ese for, "Making poor financial decisions."

Possibilities that come to mind:

- Parents just gave this car to a kid as a graduation gift, yet he's working a part-time job during college.

- It belongs to the owner of the restaurant, and he occasionally delivers sandwiches.

That reminds me of a Top Gear Australia episode where they road tested the entry level Lamborghini Gallardo by doing pizza delivery with it

The Jimmy Johns delivery guys/gals here are all cyclists, and they really live up to the company's "freaky fast delivery" motto.  Typically, they get a lunch order to my office in 5 minutes, 10 tops.  They're also really sweet people -- several from our local store participated in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Cycle for Life because my assistant asked them to.

I'd be interested to know what a sandwich only delivery driver or biker makes.  Small orders, and most likely in the compressed lunch shift probably.  Concerning cars, I drive toyotas and drive them into the ground.   My current corolla would not be mistaken for a nice car by anyone.

around here I've seen delivering Jimmy John's: a Camaro, a BMW and a Mercedes, all relatively new looking. There was one older model toyota  as well... maybe that's a viable option for when I'm sick of my job.

I knew someone who briefly did delivery for Jimmy Johns.

From what they said, pay was basically minimum wage, with low tips (even a generous 20% tip on a $5 sandwich is only $1), and no reimbursement for gas and car maintenance.

My friend was smart and didn't stay long at this job! I think the JJ's in question had a really high turnover rate. I don't know if all Jimmy Johns are like this, but I can't imagine driving an expensive car and working delivery at jimmy johns. Those people with fancy cars must come out basically even at the end of the day...

I deliver in a 1998 toyota Camry (not the most efficient but dirt cheap)

It's a boring job. Like literally brain numbing.

I've thought about getting a little delivery job post-FIRE just to get paid to explore every nook and cranny of the area.  I probably wouldn't keep it more than a few months though.

I've thought about Uber as a side hustle or eventual FIRE job, if they'll ever get past "TBD" on their opening date in my city.

I used to play Grand Theft Auto, and I loved doing taxi missions. Fastest possible way to learn the layout of a city or neighborhood. In real life, you get the added benefit of meeting and talking to all kinds of interesting people. Plus, as a huge EV nerd, it'd be an easy conversation starter.

Edmunds true cost of ownership for a 2015 Charger base model is about $22,000 for year one. That's a lot of deliveries: about six months worth at $20/hour.

Not that unusual to see lifted F150s making pizza deliveries here.
