Not my experience either. Here I coastal SoCal everyone I know in their 40s, 50s and beyond are super fit, buff, athletic and very very physically active. Sure friends in their 50s still want to go out to eat and see a movie but that usually happens after they spent the day running a marathon, biking a century, hiking 25 miles or playing doubles volleyball on the beach all day. Its hard to keep up with the old folks around here ;-).
I should move
Could be worse. You could be in the Midwest where most people are fatty mcgee's and pregnant women smoke in the streets.
Honestly?! That is difficult to imagine.
Yes.
I lived in Iowa for a few years working for a rather large IT company. If you had access to Watson, you'd probably already know which company. ;)
Anyhow, so proper IT professional adults as my peers. A lady on my team got pregnant and was a smoker. She smoked the entire pregnancy that I witnessed. After returning, she was pregnant again a few months later and the same pattern continued. This was a lady who had a 1st kid in her early 20's and then these 2 kids in her late 30's.
A peer from another team, in her 20's, got pregnant and continued smoking through the entire pregnancy.
I used to walk past the smoking pit several times a day. It was honestly pretty common to see obviously pregnant women smoking cigarettes throughout the city. No exaggeration at all. It was really disturbing to be honest. Especially once my own wife became pregnant, it became even more disturbing to us.
