HA! I'm really new to this MMM deal, but even before learning about this I would have balked at this kind of spending.
Sunday I learned a friend just bought a Mustang (used, whew! ha jk)
It's pretty new looking to me and it's a V6, automatic naturally because she can't drive a stick.
Then I learned that she drives a 40 mile (round trip) commute almost daily (sometimes 2x daily --why??) in her V6.
I choked and asked how it did on gas. She said "pretty good, if I fill on Monday I normally don't have to get gas again until Friday" *WHAT!?*
Later I learned that she has 5 points on her license from speeding tickets - which means she pays ridiculous insurance. Which i could have guessed with a financed red mustang. She mentioned something like $200 per MONTH. (I literally can't comprehend this)
I mean she must pay like $750/month for the car payment, insurance, and gas... right?
She works 2 jobs so she can keep this lifestyle. Also she is going to school for her doctorate right now, so I'm guessing she has a pile of student debt.
And then she was complaining about how healthcare is unaffordable for average Americans.
