Before anyone says anything, let me say something: I'm glad Chris is around. I think the world is a better place because this unique fellow is out there, bouncing along. Anytime I get into a conversation about this guy, I always give this example: there were (supposedly) tribal societies that had one member who did everything wrong. He hunted incorrectly, he farmed incorrectly, he dressed incorrectly. His antics were funny, sure, and children would laugh at them... but the tribe kept him fed with food from everyone else because he provided the service of showing how NOT to live. He provided others with an example of "not like this."

When it comes to money, among other things, Christian Weston Chandler is the example for the internet of how not to do it. He is a perfect storm of bad habits and bad thinking and bad choices. It's inspiring to read his family's financial history because even the most amateur, unlearned Mustachian can come away saying, "Oh wow. I HAVE to be better than that."

If you've never heard of the guy, here's a wiki that's documented his misadventures on the Internet (warning: some articles not safe for work or your own sanity, so approach with caution): sonichu.com/. You may be particularly interested in these articles: http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Chris_and_money and http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Chris_and_brand_loyalty.

I'm not much for the whole "lolcow" substrata of the internet because it seems like an echochamber of crazy people discussing crazy people, but CWC.... Reading about CWC as a college sophmore was what first taught me that financial maturity doesn't come with age but with thought. That being good with money, being wise in deed and word, is not a quality but a choice. And yeah, ok, a lot of the stuff he gets up to is hilarious.

This guy is legitimately developmentally disabled and mentally ill. It's kind of disturbing that a huge wiki on him exists. I know this is the subforum here we judge others to feel better about ourselves, but can we at least be hands off with the disabled and mentally ill.

Your point is one that has been brought up a LOT. A lot has been debated about whether the things going on in CWC's life are his fault or if he deserves the bad outcomes of his actions or the attention that his actions have brought him. I'll just let the crazies who document this stuff give their own defense on that field: http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Chris_and_remorse And http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Chris_and_psychology. And this too: http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Chris_and_his_Ego

For me, the use of his autism diagnosis is a fairly flimsy excuse for a terrible life style. He may be non-neurotypical, but he is not non-typical to such a degree that it justifies his bad behavior OR mean you should feel bad for witnessing it and saying, "Well shit. I know better than to act like that at least!" Besides that, the recording of what he's done is not made by people who followed him around, sniping videos of him from a distance without his knowledge. Everything is his, freely given and published. The crazies behind the wikis just made a place to put it (then filled it with commentary because of course they did).

Also, I, personally, find very little reason to mock the guy. He's proactive in his own self-destructive behavior. There's no reason to mock him anymore than there's a reason to mock a train crashing. Sometimes you do learn from the train crash, though.

Edit: That said, if a mod finds that this IS toeing the line too much or if too many others think, "Nah, this is too far mining. Back this bad boy up. Let's not talk about this guy" then I will quickly ask a mod to dispose of the thread. I only brought CWC up because I find him a useful (and, yes, sometimes funny) example of what happens when bad habits go rampant. If the potential lessons aren't worth the embarrassment or insult, then I say, "Tear this sucker down!"
