Buy candles, pay monthly!
« on: May 29, 2015, 08:42:07 AM »
I saw an advertisement for a service while watching TV on the plane. It allows you to buy common items and pay for those monthly for a set period. As in you get a loan to buy a tablet or a tv or CANDLES:

I am surprised nobody posted this yet, I am completely flabbergasted by the idea of buying a 20$ item on a loan and then paying 6.99$ monthly for it! CRAAAZY

They don't even have a quick way of knowing the total cost of an item, you have to find this in an obscure chart...

Would you rather:
buy a $20 candle and pay monthly OR
buy a $580 candle (http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Fornasetti-Triple-Wick-Malachite-Candle/prod106030014___/p.prod?icid=&searchType=MAIN&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FNtt%253Dcandle%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526Ns%253DMAX_PROMO_PRICE%257C1%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=prod104490044&cmCat=search)?

Well, you do get 240 hours of burn time! Only a couple of $ per hour. It's an investment!

Now, if only they would allow you to purchase this on a monthly loan... Can you imagine, people turning in their candles for new ones when they get underwater on the candle (too much burn baby!).

As someone that only owns a candle to help reduce smells in winter (windows are all secured) and gets candles for free from a friend that makes them (well I cook her dinner). How much do candles normally cost?

Oddly enough IKEA has some very cheep candles, particularly if you don't want sented ones: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00103282/. This one is $1.99 for a 45hr burn time!

Ahh, candles. Nothing like buying something expensive and then literally lighting it on fire. It's a bit like cultivating a smoking habit, except with a different class statement.

Overall, I prefer to get cheap paraffin wax and make my own. You can add color and fragrance however you like, that way.
