I don't own any of those things. Probably never will. I couldn't give a toss what people think of the way I live.

It's a grim depressing cynical paper for grim depressing cynical people. Try and read comments on some of the stories, they'll make you wonder what happened to humanity. Unfortunately its the most read paper in the U.K :(

I do own a smartphone, and do some shopping at Waitrose (via Ocado: the delivery costs are cheaper than making weekly trips ourselves to the supermarket by car or public transport, and Asda charge more for delivery and made too many unsuitable substitutions).

I also have a work iPad but not a personal one. Other than that, I have a lot more than £15,008 in savings on a much smaller salary than the £63K mentioned, and none of the other items on the list are of interest to me.

The Daily Fail is a terrible but popular paper. Circulation figures are around 2 million, which is maybe around 4 - 5% of the adult population. The Sun has a higher readership of over 2.5 million, and is also a horrible paper, but in a slightly different way.

I love my 52 inch TV.  It's the only television I've ever owned, the only one in our house, and was totally worth the exorbitant purchase price when I bought it five years ago.  It's currently sitting in the living room, hooked up to our media computer where it will stay until it dies.  I wouldn't even consider it a status symbol since you can get 60 inch TVs for under two grand these days . . .

House worth 557K pounds (886K Dollars) - Nope.
Luxury Holiday on Private Villa/Remote Island - Yes, due to consulting and travel getting me lots of points, these trips are very cheap.
A Holiday in the Caribbean costing 5K pounds - Isn't this basically the same thing?
50" TV- 60" here
Smartphone - It's required in most lines of work in the new economy, I use about 6 GB of data/month.
Ipad - Yup
Hot Tub - What the hell would I do with one of those?  What a waste of space and money.
Shop at High End Department Store - Nope. 
15K Pounds (23K US) - Yup
63K Pound (96K US) - Yup
At Least one second home - not even a first one
A Holiday home abroad - Why?  Hotels are cheap even without points.  People with vacation homes probably spend more on maintenance and condo fees than an extended hotel stay would cost.
A Designer watch - Jewelry is a waste of money.
Private Schools for Kids - No kids
First or Business Class Travel - I never pay for it so it doesn't count :)
A home with gates - i guess if you count the keyfob entry to my apartment building
Membership at Members only club - I'm not Sixty, so no.
High end Handbag, shoes,  - Nope, but I'm a dude so that doesn't count
Convertible, BMW, Mercedes, Aston, etc - Nope
2+ cars - Nope, trying to get to zero
Personal Trainer - Nope
3dTV - Nope
Gardner/Dog Walker/Cleaner/Nanny - No kids and living in an apartment means I need none of these anyways
Personal Plate - No
Jewelry/Diamonds - Nope
Taxi instead of Metro - Sometimes, but that is mostly due to the fact that public transportation is awful in DC
Gym Membership - $10 /month at Planet Fitness
Wine/Champagne - Nope
Season Tickets - Nope

So I bought a TV, Smartphone, ipad, and a high salary, everything else seems pointless.

Not doing too well at all by those standards.  The only two things on that list I have are two cars (ok, one's a truck) and (way) more than $15K in savings.  Oh, and in good years my income probably exceeds their status level, too.

But the funny thing is, I don't effing want most of that stuff.

Looks like I qualify for 12 of the items (although some are provided as fringe benefits). Much room to improve, as it appears.
