Doesn't maximizing your equity mean a paid off home?
But you see, renovating a house always increases its value. It's an iron law. It also doesn't matter what you renovate. It doesn't even matter if you're going to sell the house or not.
(Obviously not, but I feel a little nauseous any time I heard someone wants to renovate their house.)
