Boulder Snowflake skateboarding
« on: July 09, 2017, 06:32:20 AM »
DH is visiting his mom in Boulder, CO. Her house is up near Chautauqua Park (up a large hill with some horizontal roads cut into the hill for housing). He was sitting out on the deck enjoying the view  out over the valley and he noticed the following -- a vehicle driving up and down the hill repeatedly. For a few minutes he couldn't figure it out and then went to investigate. At the top of the hill a young person got out of the car and skateboarded down the hill. At the bottom of the hill the parent used the car to transport the kid back to the top of the hill. This was done to save the child from having to walk up the hill.  If you've read this far -- extra points if you can name the type of car.....yup, an SUV.

For Boulder, I might have guessed a forest green Subaru Outback with "Coexist" bumper sticker. Just playing the percentages.

That's pretty amazing, Boulder's reputation for fitness and outdoor activity seems appropriate to me. Lots of people bike up and down the main road through Chautauqua where it climbs west past where all the houses are. But there is a lot of privilege and snowflakery too.
