Lol. Out of touch much? It’s much easier to work and want to work at 80 as billionaire than other occupations.

I wonder what he would think of FIRE at 40...

He might complain your choices cost him .00001% because you aren't making and spending alot of money and his investments aren't growing as quickly.

I can't imagine being so in love with money that a person never wants to stop accumulating. There are so many positive things he could do for the world with his wealth.

He should just rewire his brain so that instead of wanting to accumulate wealth, he wants to accumulate good time with his family/friends, or even consumption-based experiences if he can't turn off the materialism tap.

If you're the competitive type, try to at least compete for something that makes you happy.

Trump does not want to retire - he's pretty sure he has at least four more years!  Maybe more if things really go his way.  It's hard to pay for what 'other people's money can afford' otherwise.

For example, Trump really likes having a helicopter in the background while he speaks to the press.  How much does this little flourish, this idiosyncrasy, cost those that listen - https://time.com/4885934/white-house-helicopter-cost/

But according to Department of Defense hourly rates for fiscal year 2017, the DoD reimbursement rate for the VH-3D is $24,380 per flight hour.

Helicopters are great trophies for the well-to-do. Helicopters and yachts.

Good gravy. I'd be shocked if that man carried his own luggage set through an airport much less any other physical labor.

I like that you are try to use hyperbole, but I guarantee someone else carries his luggage to the waiting private airplane.

The last paragraph is interesting.

Quote
And when his wife pointed out that he sometimes sleeps during meetings, he added, “I also sleep very well.”

Now, is he contradicting his wife, in which case he needs to get more sleep?

Or is he being humorous, in that he sleeps very well during meetings?

Reminds me of Norwegians as they near retirement age, showing up to work with a newspaper under their arm.  But it is a sure sight better than the Capitalist - 'you earn or your out', which has now become, 'you better be cheaper in the long run than your energetic, dynamic replacement, and can prove you'll make me significantly more money this year since you are closer to retirement and thus a liability'.

Ah, pining for a little of the good parts of socialism (more older worker protections and healthcare protections) to at least send out a tiny tendril in the US someday.

Good for him. Sounds like he's still doing what he wants to do, I couldn't say the same about my retired grandfather.

Ever notice how "billionaire" seems to become the occupation?  Imagine if you or I were described by the balance in our bank account.  What a funny world!

"This just in. Quarter-millionaire solon showed up at work on time this morning. Rumor has it he's thinking of maxing his 401k AND his wife's 401k this year. Witnesses say they've never seen anything like it."

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
