Antimustachian law proposition in Sweden
« on: October 09, 2013, 05:32:19 AM »
This from swedish media today:
http://www.di.se/artiklar/2013/10/9/enklare-att-komma-ur-skuldfallan

IŽll try and make a translation for you -

"Simpler to get out of the debt trap

It will get easier to get help if youŽve ended up in the debt trap. That is the purpose of the proposition made by an investigation handed over to minister of justice Beatrice Ask.

The investigation proposes among other things that the application method for the indebted will be simplified, and that todays tough demands for debt settlement is used more subtlety, and that the individuals own conditions to pay ones debt is accounted for.

The investigation has also had the children perspective in mind on debt settlement by suggesting two grace (translation?) months each year, june and december, so that kids to indebted can get an extra ice cream during the summer and christmas gifts."

WTF! I wonŽt type more from the article since that is where I want to put the exclamation mark. We already have laws that reward taking on debt (tax deductions for interest payments for example) in Sweden. A kid needs clothes, a home and healthy food, the kid does not *need* an ice cream or christmas gifts.

WTF?
In Germany it takes 7 years if you take the chance of personal bankruptcy. You have to get a job (that means you have to try).
And try to pay of some debt.
But some starry-eyed idealists thought 7 years would be to long and tried to reduce this time to ONE year.
ONE year with sensible spending and all debt would be gone.....

That is silly. On the other hand, it's a relief to know that not only America is dumb.
