Hilarious depictions of office workers "commuting" - thanks for sharing.

Heh... that's closer to how people drive cars.

Hahahaha . . . You know, I've actually strapped a car seat on the back of my bicycle, and it worked just fine. Granted, there was no child riding in it. I was just dropping the seat off with a friend.  I suppose images like these are the reason why people always seem so dumbfounded when I explain that our family is car-free and does all of this stuff by bicycle.

Thank you Republican National Car Lobby Slush fund (or whoever it was paid for this ad I wasn't paying attention to the fast talking at the end), I am glad you reminded me how retarded arguments against not-driving are.

If you want to get really angry, think about how adverts like this are actually affecting how people vote. You're getting a government that is based on taking money from vested interests and scaring people into voting against anyone who doesn't toe the line.

That's pretty funny!  They really have an odd idea of extreme.  If they brought their cameras to Japan (where gas already is like $7-8 a gallon) they would think everybody is an "extreme cyclist!"  The guy and the lady who couldn't put their brief case or groceries on their basket correctly clearly have much bigger problems than the price of gas.

And the baby seat thing really exists.  I see mothers all the time with one or two kids on their bike.  Check out this model from Yamaha.

Ha!  Reminds me of a zip car ad from their "sometimes you just need a car" campaign.

http://ladyfleur.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/zipcar-bike.jpg

I think they've modified their campaign a bit now.  What was ridiculous to me is that so many of the problems they "cited" would have been better solved in New York with a taxi (https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6n_6cG20QavU1ATF6D36sbgiC-j0KUO-g2nS3PtyLjK_yPwc3), but after a fair bit of flak led by cyclists (http://www.copenhagenize.com/2011/10/zipcar-strikes-back.html), they've changed their message a bit (http://images.businessweek.com/ss/09/06/0624_ads_you_wont_hate/image/09_zipcar.jpg).  Although I would point out to them that plenty of camping opportunities are accessible by public transportation (if you are in the northeast, there is a metronorth stop right on the Appalachian trail...Bear Mountain is a mere 30 miles out of nyc, etc.), but I take their point in areas that are more spread out.  And at heart, zipcar has the opportunity to be a mustachian option unlike whatever plan this advertisement the OP linked to has in mind I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure this ad was done extremely Mustachian... What an awfully done ad, done with little to no budget. I hope they returned the bikes and 8mm video camera back the garage sale where they found them when they done filming this commercial.

Heh, kinda reminds me of a video I just found on TheUrbanCountry blog the other day. There, a bike messenger races a Benz GLK through NY and wins. But then the ad points out that it doesn't have cup holders, foot warmers, etc. like the car does. A bit sad, not really comical either.

Side note to MMM: is the Youtube forum plugin available so that Youtube (and Vimeo would probably be nice too) links show up as embedded vids instead of just links?
