Why buy a silly home for you and your family, when you can buy this beast?

I live in an area awash with luxury SUVs, but I have yet to see any of these ultra-luxury ones yet. Which will be the first sighted, the Land Rover, the Maserati, the Model X, the Bentley? The anticipation is palpable! [/s]

I know this is where we make fun of those things, but...don't you think someone who might consider this already has a silly home or 4?

This car comes equipped with guns.

That's right:  multiple.  guns.

Ergo, conventional economic logic does not apply to it.

Well, yeah... I would certainly hope so.  But if you spent it on a fifth home, the fifth home might actually retain some value.  But if you can afford a truck like this, you probably don't care.  Chump change, amirite?

Actually, I think it comes with SPACE for guns, not the guns themselves.  That would make it a lot more expensive.

"With price tags ranging from $43,000 to $277,000 for the "Royal" double barrel shotgun, the company's guns make the high priced-Range Rover feel like a bit of a bargain. "

My single barrel Remington 870 cost around $300, for what it's worth.    :)

I actually traded for mine, I had a stereo I wasn't using and the person I traded with had a shotgun they weren't using.  But his receipt said like $285, I forget.  I think I gave him a single dollar to write on the receipt to make it legal.

Ah, it's not an SUV. It's a movable gun cabinet with seating.

This year Britain stopped giving development aid to the country that owns Land Rover - so they need to make up the shortfall somehow.

The irony. Megabucks Corporation from the ex-colony owns an iconic British brand, and will sell said vehicles to citizens of ex-colonial master for mega-money.
Karma or smart business sense... it doesn't matter.

The real irony is that the "proper" Landrover is no longer being built because the inductructble unstopable vehicle used all over the former colonies - doesn't meet new French/German environmental standards

Their primary market, I suspect, will still be NGO charities operating in developing countries.

I think this ford actually has a cooler exterior. The ford is outrageously priced too, but 5x cheaper, plus no "luxury car tax" if your state has it.

the problem with this SUV is it would be hard to drive all day with a throbbing erection.

Those guns are really nice, and a beautiful O/U shotgun is a piece of art to last generations. You can still shoot it, but many people don't. I think if you can write a check for that amount without blinking, you're allowed to have it.

mustacianism doesn't make sense or even apply to the uber rich. if you are FI at whatever maximum amount you want to spend a year, who cares? I'm not going to buy it, but one of my goals in FI personally is to have  nice 4x4 that I take adventuring to the beach or mountains or whatever. Probably won't be this rover, but may be an old land cruiser that gets bad gas milage and costs a lot to repair.

I think the problem is where people I work with buy regular rovers (or worse lease them!) saying they deserve it on 40k a year.

Come Brexit, and I expect Tata/JLR to resurrect the Defender 100/110 as a yooge finger to the continent.

An 80-series Landcruiser with an LSx swap would be amazing and repairs wouldn't be bad. However, finding one for a reasonable price...not so easy.

The mega rich deserve toys as well.  To a fortunate few buying this vehicle is no different than my wife and I splurging on a nice meal.  My days of buying a new vehicle are long gone, but I like seeing these glimpses into technology and design.

How about that castle?

The only way it'd be worth $245k is if it didn't break ALL THE FUCKING TIME LIKE LAND ROVERS DO. That'd be worth it to people who want a land rover.

Frankly, for that price, I would rather have this one:

http://www.highsnobiety.com/2015/05/08/2016-mercedes-benz-g-class-crazy-colors/

Unfortunately, since it costs slightly more than twice what I paid for my lake cabin, it's back to the 12-year old VW...

They selected the name "Holland" because of how they plan to market the financing package. You're guaranteed to be underwater instantly.

I lived in Moscow.  I imagine this is the target market for these cars.   bulletproof Benzes are for the plebes.
