Title: "This is why i'm broke" the useless things on the internet

I would say the problem is not the purchases, but the mindset that tells you that buying a "Revolutionary Scent-flavored Cup That Enhances the Taste of Regular Water - so you save money on sugary drinks" is a good idea.

I'm still kinda horrified by the possibility of buying a box of 4,500 live ladybugs. Humans are true evil.

There are some days where I'd love to have a few of those Zero Fucks Coins.

Meh I order lady bugs, and praying mantis egg casings every spring, they are GREAT for organic gardening.  17 for 4500 is actually dirt cheap.

To be fair the first product I saw on the site was a pre-fabricated shipping container home, which could be a money saving / minimalist home. But I have no idea if 36k is a good price for a 320 square feet home.

Edit: Ugh, I should have checked the other products before posting...

That's actually not a bad price if the insulation is halfway decent. Look at the Q&A though. It'd be hard to buy and plop down in most towns (though some progressive cities allow cargo container homes).

I know this is face punch worthy but I need to remember this site for Christmas.  As wasteful as it is, my family, immediate and extended expect presents still.  Some of that stuff actually looks fun.  I guess not having bad feelings from my family would be worth it.

Anyone notice the 55 gallons of Lube targeted towards getting intimate?

That goes around reddit every now and again. One wonders about the mind of a person that comes up with something like that.

I also noticed in the product description that they use a brand new shipping container. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of using a shipping container?

I think they're lying, or at least I hope so.

That depends. What is the whole purpose of using a shipping container?

A device that conceals your license plate or shows a fake license plate on demand?  Using the product as designed is illegal, how is the product legal?

This site actually has some cool stuff. A worthy replacement to the Sky Mall

Probably the folks in my family...especially my stereotypical far right wing nut job FIL that lives with us.  Man brought 5 dozen guns with him when he came to live with us, never shot a single one.  You want tacticool hidden credit card knives he had a dozen, same goes for concealed lock pick sets (and he has NO clue how to pick locks) and BOXES of random survival gear.

With what DH does for a living we actually have the skills in all of the above, and still don't own as much shit as he brought with him.

Well I guess it's not the "whole" purpose, that would be having a place to live :)

I meant that shipping container projects are typically viable only because the used containers cost too much to ship empty and we have more imports than exports. If I were going to build a modular house unit I would think it would make more sense to design something as a house rather than take a product meant for something else, buy it new, and then alter it.

I suppose the price could work out due to economy of scale that exist in shipping container manufacturing but not in modular homes but even so, why not use used containers?

Are these things real? Seriously?

Reminds me a bit of "Items from Our Catalog." Anyone remember that LL Bean parody from the early 1980s?
