"Broke" on ESPN. Oh the irony.

The ESPN documentary series "30 for 30" has a goody on tonight called "Broke." It's about certain high paid athletes in football making sometimes tens of millions of dollars having to retire around thirty due to various reasons.  But they are broke because of their lifestyle.

I find the irony amazing given the goal of this site is kinda to showcase retirement about the same age and being "well-off" for the normal people in this world.

Just watched it. They do actually do a nice job in detailing the reasons why these guys go broke. I can see why it happens... but ultimately its their responsibility to manage that money and they blew it, so I don't feel sorry for them.

No problemo. I finally got around to watching the whole thing, too. I feel sorry for them (young kids often without any financial education and often with a lot of dependents) but my compassion is limited. It's not like anyone forced them to spend the way they did on fancy cars, giant houses, multiple wives, etc.
