Ford finance ads
« on: July 20, 2017, 09:51:04 AM »
The attached screenshot is from my account on Ford's finance website (still paying off the 0% loan on my 2014 Ford Focus).

I really like the car, I hope that it lasts forever. Ford has a different plan.

Those photos are a really bad way of trying to sell you on that "upgrade".... They look pretty much the same.

A company advertising its products to its customers on its website?

The audacity is astounding!

There is a certain market share of customers that buy new cars with astonishing frequency.  These people make them a lot of money and they market to them aggressively.

I would agree with you if it wasn't the exact same car that I already have. Saying that I need to replace my 2014 Focus with a 2017 Focus, to me, sounds like "Hey, we know our cars don't last. Why don't you buy a new one?"

Naw, as mentioned by others, it's about targeting the folks that "upgrade" every 3-5 years, often with the same make. My ram truck loving BIL does this, though "only" about every 5 years.

"Our entire business model requires someone to buy new every couple years no matter how awesome the car actually is. We even explained how inexpensive and indestructible the car was when we sold it to you the first time."

I don't mind a car manufacturer or dealership randomly asking every couple if I'm looking for a new car.  It's when they ask whether I want another car literally days after buying one that drives me nuts.
