Title: $2.4m just isn't enough
Post by: bassman on August 22, 2014, 04:13:15 AM
So for the recent lottery winners it turns out $2.4m just doesn't cut it in Sydney apparently...

Sydney is wildly expensive.  It's also probably the highest quality of life place to live on earth...

That is heaps of money to retire on in Sydney. If I had that amount I could take care of myself and my 3 kids forever.

I declined to participate in the madness this time, pissing away my dosh in the hope of a 1 in 74,600,000 chance of winning.

It's easy to laugh at the punters, but it's the honest truth that someone actually does win lotto every week.

$2.4 million is more than enough to retire on in most parts of Sydney.

Personally I would not consider Sydney as having the highest quality of life... Admittedly I don't live in either and have been to Sydney more frequently, but my impression of Melbourne is that its a nicer city.  If I wanted to be somewhere for which Sydney was easily accessible I would probably choose Wollongong, but for 2.4 mil and retirement I would not being living in Sydney.
