Ours is 48% of our net worth. Higher than I would like, but we get very lucky with our market timing so we have gained a lot of equity in the first two years (not that it really matters until we sell). Total net worth is hovering just over the 1M mark; HCOL area here. We are refinancing right now (3.25% 30 year fixed) and I was floored to see our loan to value ratio is 52.7%. We put 20% down when we bought at the end of 2012. As soon as the kids are grown we'll sell and downsize, but with a 2 mile commute right now I'm not willing to move somewhere cheaper further from work!
