Regarding the San Fran micro studios... 350sq ft is plenty for a couch and a bed. I live in 400 and have a couch, queen bed and four person dining suite and it's not cramped. And seriously sofa beds suck. If in doubt get a great bed, an armchair and a desk that doubles as a dining table. If you have a friend for dinner use the armchair and the desk chair.
