Title: Why are there no gift cards for casinos?
Post by: FrugalSaver on December 29, 2017, 08:20:20 PM
Ever wondered this?  Was going to buy some for some friends heading to Vegas and they don't seem to exist.

Is it against the law?  Any ideas?

You can buy gift cards for Total Rewards which is Caesars Entertainment's casino players program. Then they could use the gift card for meals, hotel room, drinks, shows, or the gift shop. MGM Resorts also has gift cards for sale. You can get free MGM Resorts gift cards with AMEX points as well; I did that on my last visit to Las Vegas which is how I paid to see a Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand.

Those are basically just visa or amex cards that you can use anywhere and are white labeled as Caesars or whatever

You are incorrect. Check out their websites, especially the AMEX website if you have an AMEX.

Not ENTIRELY on topic, but you can't use credit cards for gambling. You can 'WIRE' money to Vegas hotels if you plan on gambling a good amount (anything 5k or over is probably easier to WIRE than it is to carry cash)

I imagine gift cards would follow a similar general rule, but as others have mentioned, they may do some cards for non-gambling activities.
