When worlds collide?

I'm curious how many people have met someone in "real life" who turned out to be a MMM reader? I've had RL encounters through organized meetups, and I know a number of folks evangelize MMM in RL, but for the sake of argument, let's not count those.

Do you have a friend/coworker/family member that discovered the blog completely independently from yourself?

Hi, I'm new to having an account, but have read the forums here for quite some time.

I am an old-school online journaler (before blogs happened) and a friend of mine from that world mentioned that she read an "early retirement" board that I just knew was MMM. I found her posts here, as well.

No, I'm surrounded by big-spenders, over-achievers, and narrow-minded individuals.  Damn, I really got to change who I hang out with  :)

No, it hasn't happened to me.  But the people I hang out with are pretty careful with their money. 

I did tell my closest friend about MMM but I don't think she ever checked it out.  (don't think she needs to either since she was the one who told me to call the phone and cable companies to negotiate a better rate! :)

I was at a conference in Boulder and it came up that the person I was talking to (a local) knew MMM personally and was Facebook friends with Mrs. MM. He asked if he could take my photo and post on Facebook that he was talking to a Mustachian. I obliged.

1. I met somebody through a kijiji sale, who turned out to be almost my next door neighbour, and who became an MMM reader completely independently.   
2. I just loaned my apple grinder and press to an MMM reader who happens to work in the next door high tech building.   
So, yes!

At my last job I was reading the forums during lunch and the director of my department walked by looking for someone else in my row.  He stopped at my desk to ask if I had seen who he was looking for and caught a glance of my screen and mentioned that he had read all the MMM (although he called him the badassity guy) articles!

It was kind of awesome since I thought I was alone at that place
