I start SS this month so my first payment should be the second Wed. of March.

Today I see a "Pending" Treasury dept. payment of $0 in my bank account.  What's that about, a first time test or do they keep a pending payment for a month before every payment?

My guess is that there was a miscommunication or misunderstanding or mistake in your SS start date and that you'll receive your first payment this month on February 12th, a month earlier than you intended and expected.

If so, it's probably something that your bank is showing you because they got a pre-notification from SS about your deposit.  It might happen every month; if so it'll probably be something you see a few days before each deposit.

My Dad's SS shows up like clockwork on the last Wednesday every month.  The description starts off "XXSOC SEC SSA TREAS 310" followed by his name and SSN with some other details after that.

When I looked on the SS website it said my application had been approved and status was Active but I was not yet receiving payments.  Today my bank account shows a Treasury deposit of $0 and it is no longer Pending.

I haven't talked to a SS rep, I was just curious to know if others saw the same thing when starting SS.  The SS website says my application was approved and is "active", I won't worry about it unless my payment doesn't show up next month.
