An Alexa or similar "smart" device, or any sort of smart home device.
Cigarettes.
Illegal drugs.
College tuition (undergrad was scholarships+parental funding, grad school was full scholarship).
Childcare/daycare.
A pool or related supplies.
Flatware (we're still using the set received as a wedding gift).

We've bought most other household items on people's lists in some form because we received our wedding gifts and bought our home almost 2 decades ago, and appliances and other things wear out over time.

Coffee table
Desk
Plates
Flatware
Lamps
Coffee mugs
Coffee maker
Coffee of any kind
Any salon services above a haircut*
Manicure/pedicure/waxing/etc
Thumb drive
Luggage
Most tools - thanks Dad!

Getting married certainly helped supply a lot of these, both in terms of gifts and my husband bringing things with him when we combined households. Also, massive shout out to my sister for passing along her no longer wanted items for the entirety of my life.

*I think my at-home pandemic haircuts look pretty okay, so I may not buy many of those in the future!

Lawn mower. I've never bought one.
Me either but I didn't include it as I wouldn't consider that an everyday item.  Do you mow lawns as a side hustle or have something unique to where you use them pretty frequently?  I use one maybe 12x-15x a year.

Looking through this list I realize I have never purchased a microwave! I had a hand me down from my mother and when I got rid of that I lived without one for years. I do have one now because it came with the house when I bought it. I mostly use the timer feature and make popcorn. I hate the texture of food cooked in the microwave.

I've never purchased business or first class plane tickets. I was upgraded to business one time and it was nice but it didn't inspire me to upgrade again.

Shampoo. And, by extension, conditioner as well.

I think in the context of this thread "every day" is taken to mean "common". Unless you consider hookers and blow to be every day items?

We use ours pretty much weekly from late April until at least early November, and have done so for 17 years.

I am a little envious of all the people on this forum who were given most of their household goods. We've had to buy nearly all of ours, including appliances.

You know I have never purchased a push mower. We inherited one years ago and finally the deck rusted through and we put the motor from it on the deck of a mower we found in the trash. We have bought 2 used riding mowers though.

lottery ticket
surplus Egyptian military 7.62 x 39mm rifle ammo
Nutella
codpiece
fanny pack
contact lenses
air freshener
tampons
ben-wa balls
If these are everyday items, you have interesting days!

You either don't know what ben-wa balls are or you're kinky enough to think they're an everyday item and not highlight them as well.

Hmmm, I’ll go with time. I fear I’ll really want to buy some some and still won’t be able to...

Also, hairbrush, comb, anything like that. Only things that quickly come to mind.

One consumable that really grinds my gears to purchase is "bagged ice", considering we have multiple freezers that can be making ice at all times and ice you freeze yourself lasts about ten times longer than bagged ice which is about half air.

I can’t really think of anything I haven’t purchased besides, perhaps, a gaming console. I’ve never, ever incurred (or paid) a late fee. Does that count?

It's saved the contents of our fridge before when our electricity went out and we couldn't make ice in our single freezer.

I've never bought a generator or a chest freezer.

I've never been tempted to buy a bigger house.  The one we have suits us just fine. No need to add more.

I batch my errands and I grocery shop at multiple places, including Costco. I take frozen ice blocks with me and I carry insulated bags. I gleefully stock up on things that are screaming deals. Occasionally, I will find myself long on bargains and short on ice blocks. When this happens, I don't begrudge spending $1.49 for seven pounds of cubed ice to protect the food I've just invested in. I find that things last longer if kept cool in transit. Once home, the bag of ice cube goes into one of my freezers until it's refrozen. Then I break it up and use the cubes for ice water. It definitely doesn't go to waste. Funny, where you see wasteful frivolity, I see a cheap way to prolong the life of the food I buy.

To stay on topic:

Laptop. I always just used my work laptop for home stuff. When I left work last year, my manager let me take it with me.

A lot of the other things listed in this topic. Nice to know I'm not alone!

Dish towels, hand towels, bed sheets, and condoms.
Lol the first condoms I ever bought were to give to my 19;y.o. nephew.
I had no idea what his intimate life was like but thought that if the only thing between him and great health was his conservative aunt gifting embarrassing condoms, so be it.

Come on! Whom amongst us hasn’t purchased a cod piece? I’m wearing one now.

Hah! Any real mustachian would make his own from (preferably homemade) candlesticks.

P.S. Yes, I’m aware of the irony in starting a dick-measuring contest over this.

I've never:
gotten my nails done or purchased nail polish
fabric softener or dryer sheets
lint roller
man I'm sure there are other things but I can't think of them....
