Reading an email at work. Wherein a director told the big boss that "oh, I didn't realize that I had to do this task, I will get started".
Followed by big boss "oh, really? We've had these discussions, but okay, just work on it"
Followed by director "well, I know there are many meetings where people discuss my project, but I'm not necessarily in there. So, I'm pretty sure that I memory isn't THAT bad."
As the program manager, thank you for throwing me under the bus "Oh, I didn't realize I had that task."
When, a week and a half ago, I reminded him of the task, via email. The response "I'm not going to do that until I have a request to do so and a due date. Nobody has asked for that."
My response: "I am, in fact, asking for this based on a request from the big boss. Would you like me to give you a due date?" (Like, it's LITERALLY MY JOB to make sure that people hit their milestones and don't forget things.)
Director: "No, it's just I don't want to end up having to do it twice."
Rather than throw HIM under the bus by forwarding his email response to my boss (which was snarky), I did tell the boss that I had reminded the director about the deliverable, but perhaps he forgot in the midst of all the other things going on.
I'm seriously not a psychiatrist or therapist. I feel like it's almost required in this position.
