The US itself is an awesome country, and offers plenty of low cost living.  The variety of geography and climates is amazing.  Plus, if you are dying for something "foreign", you easily pop across the border to visit Canada or Mexico.

As someone who has lived in 2 countries, I believe that the US is awesome.

As a immigrant from India with brown skin (unlike Europeans who can blend in), the US is welcoming to immigrants. As a first generation immigrant, you can become American and there is no-discrimination. From what I hear from my friends in other countries, this is not so in other places.

The US is also a country you can enter as a penniless immigrant and become rich!!!

Talking about cons, the only two that bother me are the medical insurance issues and the extremely partisan political atmosphere.
