SO and I are targeting a 2020 retirement. We've brainstormed at great lengths about what that might mean for us, and what a normal day might look like post-retirement. Last night was the first night I had an ACTUAL DREAM about being retired. It was kind of hilarious actually. It went like this...
I woke up and had some breakfast and walked to the United States capitol. Apparently I retired in D.C. I literally just walked into the congress chamber and waited until it was my turn to speak (I was on the agenda for the day). I got behind a podium and proceeded to shout at and scold the entire room. It was like a scene out of Grumpy Old Men. I was scolding like, "You all act like children. Stop trying to make money. DO THE RIGHT THING." This went on for at least a half an hour. Then I was like ok, bye, see you all tomorrow. Then I walked to a nearby public library where the librarian proceeded to give me a nice little tour. He was like, "Here's the nonfiction section, there are books about history, and finance, and some other things... then here's fiction, where you can read about romance, or science fiction, or Stephen King..." I interrupted, "You mean Stephen King has his own section?" "Why yes he does, have you SEEN all the books he's written," "Well ok then, I didn't know he was such a bfd. Thank you for the tour!" Then I sat in the library and read books all day, but not Stephen King. The end.
Then my alarm went off and I was like noooooo, why is this alarm set, I am retired!!! Then I woke up to just another Wednesday. This is definitely not how I imagined my retirement, but if this ends up as my typical retirement day, I'm still in!
Does anyone else have literal retirement dreams they'd care to share? I imagine they can be quite amusing.
